Mission Statement

It is the goal of Bow Valley Chorus to offer challenging and rewarding singing and playing opportunities derived from the classical choral repertoire to singers and musicians living in the communities of Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw and Lac des Arcs, Alberta. Our mission is then to present performances of these classical choral works at the highest possible level along with orchestral accompaniment to our audience and together, come to understand, appreciate and ultimately celebrate the choral experience.

History

The 50 member Bow Valley Chorus under the inspiring musical direction of John Goulart has become an integral part of the Bow Corridor Arts Community which encompasses the communities of Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw and Lac des Arcs, Alberta. Since its genesis in 1999 as a small church choir, Bow Valley Chorus has now evolved into an outstanding  semi-professional choir. The Bow Valley supplies the chorus with a rich source of musical talent and the dedicated choir members meet once a week for  rehearsals, alternating monthly between Banff and Canmore in preparation for the semi-annual performances and fundraising concerts. Bow Valley Chorus is supported by: donations from our Friends of Bow Valley Chorus campaign, funds awarded from various agencies through the grant application process, our valued sponsors and through ticket sales.

Bow Valley Choral Society is a registered charity that is governed by an executive board that is elected by the choir membership. The Annual General Meeting is held each year in the spring.
