Music Director: John Goulart
John Goulart established Bow Valley Chorus in 2001. In the year 2000, John was also the musical director of the Bow Valley Millennium Choral Event, where he conducted the 100 voice Bow Valley Millennium Choir in performances of Mozart's Requiem at the Banff Centre, accompanied by full orchestra  which included members of the Calgary Philharmonic. In 2005, John was selected as one of six international participants in the National Conductor's Symposium, where he collaborated with Master conductor Jon Washburn, and also conducted the Vancouver Chamber Choir in concert.  John was the proud recipient of the prestigious 2013 Con Spirito Award from the Alberta Choral Federation.  This award recognizes the spirit and dedication of individuals and their commitment to choral music in their local community.  


John also enjoys the reputation of being one of Canada's finest guitarists. He is an international prize winner and has appeared with several of Canada's leading orchestras, including the Calgary Philharmonic; Regina Symphony; Northern Chamber Orchestra; Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestre de Concerts Populaire (Montreal Symphony).  His award winning recordings have received extensive airplay on CKUA Radio in Alberta and across Canada on the CBC Radio Network. John is also a sought after adjudicator and teacher and continues to perform concerts, record, produce, adjudicate, and conduct masterclasses.

Hannan Pagenkopf, Soprano
Praised for the “special, silvery beauty and expressiveness” of her voice (Calgary Herald), soprano Hannah Pagenkopf has enchanted audiences in her hometown Calgary and abroad. She has appeared as a soloist with Juno award-winning ensemble Rosa Barocca, The Firebird Symphony & Chorus, Bow Valley Chorus, Luminous Voices, Calgary Bach Society, and Mountain View Art Song Festival, among others.

Hannah has also been featured by various orchestras throughout Alberta including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. In 2020 Hannah reached the finals of the NATS Artist Awards competition in New York City, placing 2nd and winning an additional prize for “Most Promising Singer”.  Other highlights include two solo recitals in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and participating in the Neil Semer Vocal Institute in Germany.

Krista de Silva, Soprano
Krista de Silva is a born and raised Albertan Soprano, who loves to make all kinds of music,
everywhere. She performed the principle role of ​ Carmen with l’Opéra de Montréal. She has also portrayed Sadia (three times) in the opera version of Luc Plamondon's Starmania with l'Opéra de Québec and l’Opéra de Montréal. She was a member of the Emerging Artists Program with Calgary Opera, Highlands Opera Studio and Academy of the West. Her roles include Flora from la Traviata and Paquette in Candide with Edmonton Opera, Concepcion (l’Heure Espagnole), Idamante (Idomeneo), Dido (Dido and Aeneas in Newfoundland and Macedonia), Carmen (La Tragedie de Carmen) and Mignon (Mignon).


She holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology (University of Calgary), a Licentiate in Music and a Masters in Music (Schulich School of Music-McGill).

Jason Ragan, Tenor
Jason is incredibly excited to be sharing live music once again in the Bow Valley. He is a regular member of Calgary’s professional chamber choir, the Juno-nominated Luminous Voices. Recent concerts with them include Togni’s Lamentations of Jeremiah, Balfour’s Ispichiwin, a virtual performance celebrating the New Year, and Brahms’ Requiem. As a soloist, past highlights include Handel’s Messiah with the Lethbridge Symphony, cover for St. Brioche in Merry Widow with Calgary Opera, and Purcell’s Welcome to all the pleasures with the Calgary Bach Society.

​Jason is a proud graduate of the McPhee Artist Development Program with Calgary Opera. He is grateful to be performing in Bow Valley Chorus’ 25th Anniversary concerts!

Jason Erhardt, Bass-baritone
Jason Erhardt, is thrilled to part of Bow Valley Chorus’ 25th Anniversary!  Jason has performed as soloist with Cowtown Opera Company, The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, The Mexico City Chamber Orchestra, The Calgary Civic Symphony, Calgary Concert Opera Company, The Firebird Symphony and Chorus, Calgary Chinese Oratorio Society, Symphony of the Kootenays and the Calgary Bach Society. Additionally Jason holds positions as Music/Worship Director at Centre Street Church, Principal Choral Director of the Youth Singers of Calgary, Artistic Director of the Core Celebration Concerts, Director of the Ambrose University Orchestra and has been the producer and director of the annual Concert of Hope since 2007.
